The official Dig For Eggs description says pets earn cash and continue earning while you are offline. To understand a specific pet, confirm that it is active on the plot, isolate other cash events, record the starting total, observe a fixed interval or displayed payout, and compare the ending total. Public first-party sources do not publish the rate formula or offline cap.
Confirm which pets are active
Ownership is not the same as active placement. After hatching, inspect the plot and pet controls. Use the current place, equip, activate, or slot interaction shown by the game. Check whether the animal appears in a productive space or has an active indicator.
Record the number of occupied spaces and the animals in them. If a pet remains only in storage, do not attribute plot income to it. If the game displays a per-pet value, copy its unit exactly; “per second,” “per cycle,” and a collected total are not interchangeable.
Avoid changing multiple pets at once. One replacement creates a readable before-and-after result and makes recovery easy if income drops.
Measure online cash cleanly
Start after selling loot and collecting any visible pending cash so the baseline is clear. Record total cash and current active pets. Wait for a fixed period without selling, buying, or hatching. Then record total cash again and note any collection action required.
Subtract the starting total from the ending total only when no other cash source fired. Repeat the same interval to see whether the result is stable. If cash arrives in pulses, record the pulse interval and amount rather than converting immediately into a per-second claim.
The purpose is not to reverse-engineer a permanent formula from two observations. It is to choose between pets in the current session using a comparable measure.
Compare a replacement
Record the existing lineup and its fixed-interval result. Replace one pet, confirm the new animal is active, clear or collect any pending amount, then run the same interval. Keep plot level and other upgrades unchanged.
If the total improves consistently, the replacement helps the current economy. If it falls, restore the previous pet if available. If the result is noisy, use a longer interval or the live displayed rate rather than declaring a winner.
Rarity alone is not a verified income formula. A Legendary result satisfies an official discovery milestone, but the badge does not state its payout. Use Pet Rarities for collection meaning and this test for economic value.
Separate pet cash from loot sales
Sell ordinary loot before starting a pet test and write down the sale result immediately. Do not dig, sell, claim another reward, or purchase during the interval. This keeps active pet cash separate from the manual loop.
When planning a session, compare time use rather than merging the streams. Loot sales reward active digging; pets support the plot while you dig and while away. A strong account keeps both moving: enough digging progress to find eggs and enough plot income to fund the next upgrade.
If a total changes unexpectedly, check for a pending offline award, sale, hatch reward, or another live event before assigning it to a pet.
Test offline earnings
Before leaving, record cash, active pets, plot capacity, and the UTC time. Exit normally. On return, read any summary or claim screen before doing another action. Record the displayed offline amount, elapsed time, and total after collection.
One test supports only that duration and lineup. Repeat with the same pets before comparing. The game may use caps, collection requirements, or balance changes that public sources do not document. The Offline Earnings guide provides a fuller test plan.
Do not claim that offline and online rates are equal unless the live game demonstrates it. Keep both fields separate in the pet record.
Improve income when the result is weak
First confirm every intended pet is active and any generated cash is being collected correctly. Fill unused productive spaces with verified animals before paying for more capacity. Then compare one replacement or one relevant live upgrade at a time.
Expand the plot when added room will hold another useful pet and the displayed cost does not block a more important shovel or strength improvement. Use Plot Upgrades to frame that decision.
If egg supply is the bottleneck, improve the active digging route rather than rearranging the same lineup indefinitely. Use How to Find Eggs and How to Dig.

Continue from the result
Add the measured animal to the Pet Index with a date and comparable unit. Use the Progression hub when the next decision is between more plot capacity and faster active digging.
Verification level: pets earning cash and offline cash are Official. Active-slot rules, collection method, intervals, rates, stacking, caps, sale effects, and upgrade formulas need current in-game testing.
