How to Hatch Eggs in Dig For Eggs

Move a found egg through delivery, placement, hatch progress, animal reveal, Pet Index confirmation, and practical troubleshooting in Dig For Eggs.

To hatch an egg, first recover it from the dig site and bring it to your plot or the current hatching interaction. Follow the live delivery or placement prompt, start the hatch if a separate action appears, wait or complete the displayed requirement, and confirm that an animal is received. The official First Hatch badge proves this flow exists, but public sources do not publish a universal timer or button sequence.

Confirm the egg reached the plot

Before interacting, check that the egg is still carried or stored. At the plot, approach the object or space the live game identifies for eggs. Community reporting describes base placement, while the official description names plot expansion and pet room. Use the current prompt instead of assuming a nest, machine, or fixed slot layout.

After delivery, verify that the egg leaves its previous state and appears in the plot flow. If nothing changes, step away, face the interaction again, and read any capacity or requirement message. Do not begin another dig until you know where this egg went.

If several eggs are present, record the name or appearance of the one you are testing. Merged inventory or queued hatches can disconnect the result from its source unless you keep the sequence simple.

Separate the five hatch states

The five useful states are found, delivered, started, ready, and revealed. A found egg still needs a return trip. A delivered egg may still need a start action. A ready egg may need a final open or claim. The animal is not confirmed until the reveal or inventory/Pet Index result appears.

Identify the last completed state before troubleshooting. If the egg is still shown as carried, the delivery failed. If it occupies a plot space but shows no progress, inspect the current start prompt. If progress is complete, look for a final claim. This method avoids random button presses.

No public first-party source confirms whether hatching continues while offline. If the game shows a timer, note it before leaving and compare after returning. One test can document the current behavior without turning it into a permanent promise.

Confirm the animal and collection entry

When the hatch finishes, read the animal name and rarity exactly as displayed. The official Legendary Discovery badge confirms Legendary-or-higher animals exist, but it does not define all lower tiers or odds. A dramatic reveal should not be converted into an invented percentage.

Open the Pet Index and check whether the species is now discovered. The official Animal Collector badge says ten different species count and that a discovery remains meaningful even if that animal is later sold. A duplicate hatch may therefore add an animal without increasing the species count.

Next, inspect whether the animal needs to be placed or selected to earn cash. Ownership, discovery, and active plot placement can be different states. Use the Pet Income guide to test the contribution.

Fix an egg that will not hatch

If no prompt appears, confirm the correct plot, the egg’s carried state, and an available egg or pet space shown by the current game. Move out and re-enter the interaction. On mobile, allow the contextual control to appear instead of tapping a remembered screen location.

If the egg is placed but stalled, inspect all text around it for a start, timer, readiness, or capacity message. Check whether another egg is occupying the active hatch state. Do not assume that clicking faster changes a timed process.

If the egg disappears without an animal, check inventory and Pet Index before calling it lost. Allow normal synchronization, then rejoin through the official Experience if the state remains inconsistent. Record the server time and egg state for a useful bug report. Never run an automation or recovery script.

Manage limited plot space

When space is full, decide whether the problem is egg processing, stored animals, or productive placement. Finish a ready hatch before starting another. Compare the current animals by live income and collection value, and use only management actions the interface explains.

Expand the plot when the next space will hold a useful pet or unblock the hatch flow and the displayed cost fits your cash plan. The official description confirms expansion creates room for more pets; it does not publish the level costs or capacity table. See Plot Upgrades for a measured decision route.

Build a repeatable hatch record

Record egg label, delivery method, start action, displayed duration or requirement, completion action, animal name, rarity, Pet Index result, placement state, and check date. Leave fields blank when the live game does not show them.

One complete record is more useful than a list of rumored odds. After several controlled hatches, compare duplicate behavior and slot use. Do not calculate rates from a tiny sample or claim a pity system without visible evidence.

Continue after the hatch

Use the Pet Index to track species, Pet Rarities to interpret confirmed labels, and Pet Income to compare active value. Return to How to Find Eggs when the plot is clear and the next objective is another discovery.

  • Confirm the egg is carried or stored before reaching the plot.
  • Verify delivery by watching the egg change state.
  • Start the hatch only through the current live prompt.
  • Claim or open a ready egg if the game requires it.
  • Record the animal, rarity, Pet Index state, and placement.

Verification level: hatching into animals, First Hatch, the Pet Index, ten-species collection, and Legendary-or-higher rarity are Official. The exact plot control, timers, queues, slot rules, and offline hatch behavior need in-game testing.
